IBA-Internship Program 2005.

IBA Alumni Affairs and Placement Services department, represented by Mr. Imranul Haq (Manager) and Ms. Erum Ashraf (Coordinator) conducted an orientation session regarding IBA Internship Program 2005 on February 24 and 28, 2005 at IBA main campus and city campus respectively.
Objective of this session was to make students aware about the process of internship at IBA, and to answer queries related to this program so that smooth flow of internship process can be ensured.
The objectives of IBA Internship Program 2005 are:

To place IBA students belonging to BBA VI, BBA VI (MIS), BCS VI, MBA II, MBA II (MIS), MBA III, MBA III thru BBA (Exe), MBA III (MIS) classes in major national and multinational, private and government organizations,
To facilitate the employers in screening, interviewing and selecting IBA students for their internship programs,
To meet HR personnel and IBA interns together with a view to discuss their progress during internship and to rectify areas of improvement,
To conduct career counseling sessions with IBA students.
While sharing the achievements of last year’s internship program, Mr. Imran informed the students that 433 IBA students were placed in the industry and more than 80 internship ads of prospective employers were placed on IBA notice boards. IBA Placement approached about 127 companies through telephone, e-mails and personal visits to conduct random checks on internee performance.
Stepwise Internship process was also discussed as follow:
Step 1: Students can choose a company for internship from the list of major employers, available at IBA photocopy shops. IBA Placement office has already dispatched letter of intent to 139 organizations.
Step 2: The office is getting requirements on internees from various organizations.
Step 3: Office place internship ads on IBA Placement website and IBA notice boards as soon as they get them from the organizations.
Step 4: IBA students send their CVs (hard copy) to IBA Placement office or directly to the organization as per requirements.
Step 5: IBA Placement matches the CVs received from the students with the criteria displayed in the internship ads.
Step 6: Suitable CVs are forwarded to the company, offering internship.
Step 7: On receipt of communication from the employer, students are informed about the test, interview dates and venue.
Step 8: Selected students are asked to join the said company.
Step 9: All IBA internees will have to submit the following documents after their internship is completed:
- Offer letter from employer (IBA will issue a thank you letter to the company).
- Copy of internship report
- Duly filled Internee Appraisal form from employer.

Students can apply to as many organizations as they want, but they will have to join the first organization, which offers them internship. If two companies approached IBA Placement office the same day the student will be asked to choose one company from the two. Students can apply for an international internship too. Students were asked to refer the list “Update on Internship Program 2004” available at photocopier that provides the names of organizations that hired IBA students (bachelors and masters) during summer 2004. Ms. Erum invited students at Placement office for further assistance.
